Job Summary: The Human Resource Generalist will run the daily functions of the Human Resource (HR) department including but not limited to enforcing company policies and practices, managing employee relations, conducting investigations, administering leaves, and acting as a liaison for employees and leadership.
Position Responsibilities:
  • Develop and maintain job descriptions in conjunction with key staff and according to guidelines
  • Develop and maintain staff performance appraisal process, ensuring timeliness and providing guidance
  • Maintain and revise Employee Handbook according to established guidelines
  • Create, revise and maintain human resources policies and procedures
  • Plan, monitor and appraise HR activities by scheduling conferences with employees; hearing and resolving employee grievances; assisting with action plans, as appropriate; training managers to coach and discipline employees and counseling employees.
  • Ensure legal compliance by monitoring and implementing HR federal and state requirements, conducting investigations, overseeing Worker’s Compensation Cases and maintaining records.
  • Handles confidential matters with discretion.
  • Attends and participates in employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations.
  • Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.
  • Assists with onboarding new hires as needed.
  • Assists with recruitment and payroll/benefits as needed.
  • Serves as payroll processing backup.
  • Conducts employee Stay and Exit Interviews.
  • Administers and tracks leaves of absences in compliance with applicable laws.
  • Consults with Ethos HRBP and legal as necessary on high-risk issues and concerns.
  • Oversees Penn Foster Sponsorship Program.
  • Requires regular travel to other hospital location in Clarskville.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
  • Associate or bachelor's degree in business administration, human resources, psychology, or another related field.
  • Minimum 5 years HR experience required or combination of education and experience.
  • Excellent communication skills, writing skills, interpersonal skills and ethical mindset.
  • Thorough knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations.
  • SHRM or PHR Certification preferred, but not required.
  • Experience working in HR in human or veterinary medical field preferred, but not required.
  • Adept at problem-solving and conflict resolution.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  • Experience and knowledge of different types of leaves such as FMLA, ADA, etc.
  • Highly skilled in emotional intelligence, mindfulness, and listening to understand.
  • Team spirited, goal-oriented and detail-oriented.
  • Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.

Physical/Environmental Requirements: This job classification requires that the applicant be capable of standing continuously for up to four hours with little or no breaks during; sitting; lifting up to 50 pounds; carrying up to 50 pounds; reaching; speaking; seeing; and hearing. This job classification also involves repetitive use of the hands, wrists, and arms. Individuals must be able to meet the minimum dexterity requirements of the position. This position involves a potential for exposure to agents known to cause zoonotic disease in humans and the use of potentially hazardous chemicals as defined by the National Hazard Communication Standards.
