Position Summary

The Payroll Coordinator handles all payroll related functions for Mary Greeley Medical Center. This includes processing payroll, maintaining and preparing taxation forms , IPERS and other payroll related reporting. Maintains employee data, handling payroll questions and completing any other tasks necessary for monitoring and overseeing the company's payroll process.

- Coordinates payroll operations
- Maintains and updates the payroll system files and tables as appropriate
- Prepares payroll for biweekly distribution
- Prepares and remits tax payments to State and Federal government agencies, as well as payments to IPERS
- Prepares the required monthly, quarterly and yearly compensation and tax reports, including Federal, State, IPERS and Job Service of Iowa
- Prepares and distributes annual W-2 tax data to medical center employees and files with the IRS, meeting all deadlines
- Assures payroll integrity and compliance by knowing and understanding the Iowa Wage and Hour rules and regulations, as well as other State and Federal compensation and tax regulations
- Implements, maintains, and reviews payroll processing systems to ensure timely and accurate processing of payroll transactions, including salaries , benefits, garnishment, taxes, and other deductions.
- Prepares and maintains list of job duties and responsibilities to assure proper payroll operation performance
- With direction, prepares and maintains payroll policies and procedures
- Acts as liaison with banks, credit unions and/or finance institution for payroll direct deposit
- Assists with reconciliation of all payroll related liability accounts
- Cross-trains other staff in payroll processing.
- Assists with coordination of executive benefits
- Assists with FTE reporting.
- Communicates professionally with staff regarding any payroll questions or concerns
- Performs other duties as assigned
- Attends in-service meetings, educational programs, etc. to maintain current understanding of trends and changes relevant to the industry and finance in general.
- Ensures accurate and timely processing of payroll updates.
- Provides back up to benefit coordinator.

Qualifications, Knowledge & Experience

Required Qualifications (Including any licensure, certification, education):

High school graduate with a minimum of an assoicates degree, in business or a related field.

Organizational Requirements:
-
Maintain stroke education per regulatory requirements.

Preferred Qualifications:

Associates or bachelor’s degree in a business-related field

Required Knowledge, Skills & Experience:

Knowledge of payroll regulations and personnel policies; tax law and IPERS regulations.

Ability to maintain effective professional working relationships.
