We are seeking a Human Resources Specialist for our residential trade and education center. The ideal candidate will have strong computer and communication skills, an understanding of HR's role in creating a positive workplace culture, and a desire to participate in activities beyond HR to support our trade school students.
Job Summary:
This position performs a variety of tasks including, but not limited to, clerical and secretarial duties. The work is under general supervision of higher-level personnel in preparation of various human resource tasks throughout compensation, benefits, staffing/employment, EEO procedures and policy administration. The Personnel Assistant I is expected to exercise discretion at all times; limited judgment may be necessary at times. This assistant may be required to operate general office equipment such as: computer, copier, adding machine, and facsimile. The HR Specialist provides support to the Human Resources Department and assists with some aspects of human resources as directed by the manager.
Duties:
• Assists as needed with employment activities, including recruitment, testing, and training, in compliance with the policies and procedures of DOL, Center, and Horizons Youth Services’ requirements.
• Assists with the preparation and maintenance of procedures for new hires, transfers, separations, salary changes, and other personnel practices.
• Assists with the administration of employee benefits such as life, health, long-term disability, tuition reimbursement, and retirement plan for center employees.
• Maintains accurate database of all training completed by all employees.
• Assists with the monitoring of all EEO, OFCCP and Corporate Policies and Procedures.
• Assists with the processing of employee payroll for Finance Department through the entering of employee changes and other maintenance aspects of the ADP system.
• Keeps all personnel records in a confidential manner.
• Models, mentors, monitors appropriate Career Success Standards with careful attention to the staff Code of Conduct.
• Maintains good housekeeping in all areas and complies with safety practices.
• Participates in staff training.
Experience: Two years related experience and/or training.
Education: Associates degree required, Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university preferred and/or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Valid State Drivers’ License
Compensation details: 18-20 Hourly Wage
