JOB SUMMARY: Responsible for establishing relationships with employers to develop unsubsidized and subsidized (Temporary Work Experiences) employment opportunities for participants. Responsible for preparing participants for the workforce by identifying and eliminating training and employment barriers, as well as vetting and preparing jobseekers for placement.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s degree in a human services, related field or equivalent education and experience in employment and training Programs.One to two years of experience in recruitment, employment, training, marketing or a related field.Interpersonal skills necessary to effectively communicate and build professional relationships with employers and program participants.Familiarity with Human Centered Design principles, including Motivational Interviewing.Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access); Familiarity with Salesforce-like data platforms and the state’s OSMIS system to manage federally funded programs.Computer skills necessary to maintain required documentation and to access information on the Internet.Mental ability to handle pressures related to meeting placement and retention goals and dealing with multiple individuals from diverse backgrounds and varying levels of need.Bilingual language skills are a bonus, but not required.Valid Michigan Driver’s License. Candidate must have a reliable means of transportation to travel to and from employer locations and Detroit at Work Career Centers.Must be willing to work a flexible schedule.PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The physical demands described are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this position. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to see, talk and hear. The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit for extended periods of time, and have sufficient hand, arm, and finger dexterity to operate a phone, computer keyboard, and other office equipment. Must be able to lift a minimum of 10 pounds.
WORK ENVIRONMENT: The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. -This job operates in a normal environment with a noise level, which is at times, moderately loud with little discomfort due to noise, dirt, dust and the like. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
