Directs the development and execution of total rewards (benefits and compensation) strategies including pay philosophy, benefits programs, and related policies and procedures for the Norton Healthcare system. Designs and manages operational processes surrounding pay systems and is responsible for ensuring total rewards programs meet employee needs, comply with legal requirements and are cost effective. Manages wage structures and ensures compliance to State and Federal guidelines. Oversees the teams processes and acts as a resource for Human Resources and other managers on compensation and benefits questions and strategic initiatives. Ensures teams' collaboration with all Human Resources Offices and system-wide department leadership to review and resolve related concerns. Manages performance of staff through reward and recognition, coaching, counseling, and corrective action.
Key accountabilities:
- Serves as the system's resource for total rewards expertise and ideas. Is able to develop programs using innovative ideas and tracks each program's success rate. Prepares financial analysis of total rewards programs on a proactive basis and makes recommendations on compensation and benefit plan design, balancing employee relations, liability and expense concerns. Understands and monitors performance to budget. Presents issues to Human Resources leadership proactively.
- Coordinates and communicates annual enrollments, general/market increases, and other events to promote the benefits of Norton Healthcare on a year round basis, placing special emphasis on improving program awareness through education and perceived value of Norton Healthcare's total rewards package. Research, recommend, and implement continued opportunities for enhanced communication methods.
- Provides leadership to Norton Healthcare total rewards functions, assuring efficient workflow, overseeing the development of effective processes and exceptional customer service delivery. Holds self and staff accountable for prompt and accurate benefit placement and processing. Direct management of compensation and benefits personnel as assigned.
- Assures department compliance with regulatory standards (e.g. wage and hours, FLSA, ERISA) and provides timely follow-up to corrections of any identified deficiencies. Coordinates teams' resources for system services requests regarding external or internal audits.
- Responsible for initiating, reviewing for accuracy, amending as necessary, approving with legal, and finalizing all vendor contracts for execution of all total rewards programs. Accountable for approving all processes related to these programs, as established.
