The Senior ERP Application Analyst, Grants and Payroll plays a key role in optimization and supporting Beth Israel Lahey Health’s Workday ERP platform with a primary focus on Grants and Payroll. Leveraging deep expertise in grants, financial & payroll knowledge, the Senior Analyst will research, recommend, and influence solutions, integrations, and business processes to deliver scalable, efficient solutions. This position is responsible for the ongoing optimization, support, and enhancement of Grant ERP capabilities ensuring alignment with organizational goals and operational priorities.
Working in a highly collaborative environment, the Senior ERP Application Analyst partners with business stakeholders, IT leadership, and vendors to deliver scalable, efficient solutions that improve processes and drive value. This role combines deep technical expertise with strong business acumen to analyze requirements, resolve complex issues, and lead system enhancements that elevate the user experience.
The Senior ERP Application Analyst also serves as a strategic contributor, helping shape the ERP roadmap and championing innovation through automation, AI, and intelligent workflows. In addition, this role mentors junior team members, promotes best practices, and supports a high-performing, customer-focused culture.
Job Description:
Essential Duties & Responsibilities including but not limited to:
- Act as a strategic partner for the Research & Research Financial teams, building strong relationships to understand goals, challenges, and workflows, and aligning Workday and related systems to support enterprise objectives.
- Optimize business processes, reporting, and align system functionality with evolving research policies and regulatory standards in partnership with Research & Research Financial teams. This includes grants, financial and costing allocations.
- Design, configure, and optimize Workday Grants components, including grants, sponsors, awards, budgets, billing schedule, invoicing, payroll costing allocations and reporting in close collaboration with IT, business stakeholders, vendors, and ERP leadership.
- Ensure payroll costs are accurately distributed to grants, projects, and cost centers.
- Serve as a primary liaison between IT and business partners, building strong relationships through regular engagement to review priorities, align on objectives, and manage a pipeline of initiatives. Facilitate and lead project status meetings, ensuring clear communication of progress, risks, and timelines.
- Provide Tier 2 and Tier 3 production support, including proactive monitoring, troubleshooting, and resolution of complex issues across Workday modules, integrations, and punchouts. Perform root cause analysis and document solutions to ensure long-term stability.
- Lead end-to-end delivery of ERP initiatives, including solution design, requirements gathering, configuration, testing (unit, system, integration, UAT), deployment including change control, and training support.
- Drive continuous improvement and innovation by identifying opportunities to better leverage Workday functionality. Lead proof-of-concept initiatives and pilots, incorporating automation, AI, and machine learning where appropriate to enhance efficiency and reduce manual effort.
- Facilitate prioritization and business case development, ensuring all enhancements are aligned with strategic goals and follow established IT service management (ITSM) processes, including change control and release governance.
- Execute operational responsibilities to support system reliability, compliance, and audit readiness, including recurring processes, schedule management, and maintaining accurate documentation.
- Support Workday bi-annual releases, including regression testing and adoption of new features to maximize system value.
- Mentor and guide junior analysts, fostering knowledge sharing, consistency, and high-quality delivery across the team.
- ·Promote a customer-focused, collaborative work environment, consistently demonstrating professionalism, strong communication skills, and alignment with organizational values and standards.
- Participate in on-call support rotation, training, and continuous improvement initiatives, and perform additional duties as needed to support a dynamic, high-performing team.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Business Administration, or other related field, preferred, or equivalent work experience.
Licensure, Certification & Registration:
- Workday Certifications, a plus
Experience:
- 7+ years’ experience with ERP systems, 5+ specializing in Workday Grants, Finance and Payroll.
- Deep understanding of grant administration lifecycle and how it is operationalized within Workday, including pre-award and post-award grant processes, sponsored project compliance, effort reporting, indirect cost recovery, and financial management of federal and non-federal research funding
- Knowledge of finance and accounting principles related to grants, billing, and funding structures
- Experience configuring or a deep understanding of Workday Payroll Accounting with strong understanding of payroll specifically costing allocation processing for grants
- Experience with several large scale, full cycle implementations.
- 2+ years’ experience with Workday integrations, security and custom reporting.
Skills, Knowledge & Abilities:
- Experience working in complex, matrixed environments, preferably within healthcare
- Proven ability to configure Workday business processes, custom validations, calculated fields to meet business requirements
- Proven ability to support and troubleshoot Workday integrations, including EIBs & Core Connectors.
- Understanding of systems architecture, APIs, and integration best-practices.
- Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot issues, manage competing priorities, and work independently in a remote/hybrid environment.
- Proactive, detail-oriented, and customer-focused mindset. Exceptional communication and analytical abilities.

Pay Range:
$95,000.00 USD - $135,000.00 USD
The pay range listed for this position is the annual base salary range the organization reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for this position at this time. Actual compensation is determined based on several factors, that may include seniority, education, training, relevant experience, relevant certifications, geography of work location, job responsibilities, or other applicable factors permissible by law.

Anna Jaques Hospital is a 123 bed community hospital serving 17 cities and towns in the Merrimack Valley .
