Your job is to build software that makes hardware, and to make us faster at building it. You will not work from a software department across the building. You will embed inside the team you build for: test crews streaming telemetry off a gas turbine at full power, design engineers turning a new turbine blade around overnight, technicians on a factory floor where the machines close out their own work orders. Their pain is your requirements document, and you will feel it firsthand, shipping code in your first week. We don't expect you to know hardware yet. We expect you to be excited to learn it, fast, starting the day you walk in.
Most of your graduating class will go optimize ad clicks, dashboards, and checkout funnels. There is nothing wrong with that work except that it is the same work, at a thousand companies, behind the same login screens. We hire a small number of extraordinary computer science graduates who want the other thing: hard software problems attached to physical machines, with fire coming out one end.
Boom exists to bring back commercial supersonic flight. Overture, our supersonic airliner, is the long game, and getting there means building turbomachinery faster than anyone ever has. Today that is Superpower, a natural gas turbine for next-generation AI data centers, on a development schedule nobody in the industry believes until they see it. The software problems on that path don't have playbooks. You will write them.

What You'll Do
You will thrive here if:
The ramp here is steep and the expectations are high from day one. Engineers who want a structured development program, a mentor rotation, and a clearly defined lane should look elsewhere. Engineers who want to spend their first year building software that makes hardware should apply.

Compensation
The Base Salary Range for this position is $92,000 - $124,000 per year. Actual salaries will vary based on factors including but not limited to location, experience, and performance. The range listed is just one component of Boom’s total rewards package for employees. Other rewards may include long-term incentives/equity, a flexible PTO policy, and many other progressive benefits. Additional perks include on-site meals and gym access.
