The role coordinates with employees, vendors, and internal departments to ensure benefits are effectively managed and communicated.

Benefits Analyst Details
Essential Job Duties:
- Comply with all laws, regulations and codes affecting all employee benefit plans including, health, retirement, dental, life, short-term disability, vision, long-term disability, employee assistance program and tax deferred annuities.
- Is responsible for identifying ERISA reporting and notifying supervisor.
- Assists with reconciling monthly billing for health, dental, Section 125, life, LTD and STD.
- Compiles and prepares data for benefit plans for submission to Finance for outside billing.
- Assists with life insurance claims.
- Prepares life insurance claims data for vendors.
- Meets with beneficiary(ies) for completion of life insurance claim forms.
- Is responsible for communicating benefits to employees.
- Implement benefits presentations to all eligible and new employees.
- Assists with the organization and implementation of annual Open Enrollment.
- Offers information to update benefit topics in Employee and Benefits Handbooks as necessary.
- Is responsible for facilitation of termination process, including COBRA reporting requirements.
- Demonstrates knowledge of Hospital Human Resources policies and procedures specific to benefits and compensation.
- In collaboration with Benefits Supervisor, processes and administer facets of the retirement plans.
- Assists with policy implementation of all benefit plans.
- Assists with benefits related to Lawson data entry. Trains other Benefits employees in Lawson procedures, as needed.
- Inputs and updates necessary deduction for benefit plans on Lawson system.
- Displays tact and diplomacy when dealing with employees, Plan trustees, insurers, TPA's, and providers of health services.
- Answers routine and specific correspondence as it relates to compensation and benefits under direction of Supervisor.
- Maintains files and security of confidential information; i.e. personal records and wage and salary information, and benefit records.
- Makes maximum effective use of time.
- Demonstrates knowledge of Hospital and departmental policies and procedures.
- Selects appropriate seminars, workshops, and classes to enhance work performance.
- May write article for In the Loop.
- Complies with all Hospital policies and procedures.
- Is responsible for assisting with LTD.
- Other responsibilities as needed.
- Is responsible for biweekly payroll reporting to vendors and to Finance.
- Applies independent judgment to specific problems; i.e. release of information.
Qualifications:
- B.S. degree in Business Administration preferred.
- Completion of CEBS courses desired and/or willingness to pursue CEBS, desirable.
- Previous benefit experience necessary.
- Must meet and deal successfully with a wide variety of people.
- Analytical abilities and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal skills.
- Functional knowledge of personal computer. Experience utilizing various software packages.
- Flexible work schedule as required.
