About the Position:
The Payroll & Benefits Specialist is responsible for the accurate and timely administration of payroll and employee benefits for employees nationwide. This role manages multi-state payroll (40 states), administers benefit programs, performs payroll and benefit audits, and identifies opportunities to improve accuracy, efficiency, and cost effectiveness. Working closely with Human Resources, Finance, Paylocity, benefit vendors, and the company’s benefits broker, this role serves as a key resource for payroll and benefits administration.
This position reports to our Director of Human Resources.
What you’ll be doing:
· Manage the full biweekly payroll process for employees across 40+ states, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance.
· Administer Paylocity payroll processing, including employee changes, deductions, taxes, garnishments, corrections, and off-cycle payrolls.
· Monitor multi-state payroll tax requirements and coordinate with Paylocity to address registrations, filings, notices, and compliance issues.
· Administer employee benefit programs, including eligibility, enrollment, life events, deductions, and terminations.
· Audit payroll, benefit deductions, and carrier/vendor invoices to identify and resolve discrepancies.
· Reconcile employee and employer benefit costs and maintain accurate payroll and benefits records.
· Partner with the HR team, benefits broker, carriers, vendors, and third-party administrators to resolve payroll and benefits issues.
· Support open enrollment and employee benefit communications in partnership with HR.
· Analyze payroll and benefits processes to identify opportunities for improved efficiency, accuracy, controls, and cost savings.
· Maintain compliance with applicable federal, state, and local payroll and benefits requirements.
· Serve as a primary resource for employee payroll and benefits questions while maintaining confidentiality of sensitive information.

· 3+ years of progressive payroll and benefits experience, including multi-state payroll.
· Strong knowledge of payroll processing, deductions, taxes, and benefit administration.
· Experience with payroll/HRIS systems; Paylocity experience preferred.
· Strong attention to detail with experience auditing and reconciling payroll and benefits information.
· Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
· Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
· Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
· Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a high level of confidentiality.
